Discounts based on the Age of the Home

The age of the home plays a significant role in determining the cost of home insurance. As homes age, so do the systems and materials that make up your home, making your home more vulnerable to property damage or structural problems.

Discounts based on the materials used

Materials used to construct the house plays a significant role in determining the insurance premium amount. Homes built using sturdy materials have a minor threat to damage. Hence, home insurance companies offer considerable discounts to homes built using damage-resistant materials.

For instance, homes built with fire resistive brick are offered at a premium of $1530.8 in Ellicott City, whereas homes built with Masonry and Brick are offered at a premium of $1691. Thus, the premium charged will be higher if you use low-quality materials to construct your house.

Latest Home Insurance Reviews

State Farm
I recommend this company because they have great customer service, good prices, and they can bundle your insurance to make the cost even lower than the original pricing.
The Hartford
I would have to rate them a five. While I have not actually filed a claim, I have contacted them with questions about what would and wouldn't be covered in specific situations.
Erie Insurance
I would recommend my current insurance company to anyone. Their customer service is fantastic, rates are competitive and I always feel like I am a priority to them.
State Farm
i am completely satisfied with my home insurance company. They have been reealy good about explaining the terms of agreements and other concepts. they cover most, if not, all of my belongings.
State Farm
I haven't had any problems with the customer service regarding my home owners insurance with State Farm. I have not had any claims, but in dealing with them at setting up.they have been great.
I have had good experience with my Home Insurance company. I would give them a 4 out of 5 stars
I wish the deductibles you have to pay were a bit cheaper, but I guess they have to make up for the cost somewhere else since the payments are cheaper in comparison to other insurance companies.
I like that my insurance company is a well known and widely trusted brand. i know that i am not getting scammed.
State Farm
Although i have fortunately not had to make a claim on my policy, i would assume that the claims process is easy and that the company works to quickly resolve the claim.
Caters to the military. great customer services. easy claim process
Liberty Mutual
The company is friendly, helpful, and their rates are good. I don't have any complaints. The response time to claims or phone calls in my experience has been better than any home insurance company I had before.
MetLife is easy to work with. I have done everything online or over the phone. One thing I would like is a local office if ever needed, but they make it pretty easy via email and website interaction if needed.
Liberty Mutual
State Farm
I really have only had the insurance policy in this house and never had one before. Our home was complete remodel when we bought it and we were previously renting. We could not get insurance through the carrier that we had our car insurance through so we were referred to State Farm. I really do not have any information about the premiums charged by other companies.
Safeco Insurance
Our personal agent, "Tony", is always available. When my daughter was involved in a rather serious car accident, he drove to the scene to help her with her needs. He followed up with her while she was in the hospital and made sure her car was properly, and quickly, repaired. And, as the car was being towed to the shop, he arranged a rental car to be delivered to our house. Truly one of the greatest examples of customer service not being used as an oxymoron.
There really is not much to complain bout with USAA. The only improvement I could see is that the older generation would have more ease with their services if they had an actual office in town. This does not bother me though.
I would highly recommend USAA for someones health insurance. They have great rates and many other services all in one that you also need to survive.
Erie Insurance
the affordabilty alone makes erie worthwhile, but anytime i have a question or concern my agent answers the phone. no automated system or online confusion
