Three Ways to Reduce Home Insurance Costs in Bangor, ME

The average cost of homeowners insurance in Bangor, ME, is $681. Home insurance coverage will pay for the necessary repairs and replacement of the home if anything is damaged by fire, earthquake, flood, or other catastrophes. The easiest approach to finding homeowners insurance in Bangor, Maine, is to compare quotes from different insurance providers. There are numerous providers of home insurance. Home insurance premiums may differ from one company to another. However, rates can vary greatly depending on the age and condition of your home, the value of your belongings, and the amount of liability coverage you need. Factors like these can all affect your premium, so it's important to shop around and compare rates before you purchase a policy. You can use our quote tool to compare rates from top insurers in your area and find the best policy for your needs. Here we are looking for three ways to reduce home insurance costs in Bangor, ME.

1. By Choosing a Higher Deductible

Homeowners insurance rates in Bangor, ME, can be reduced by choosing a higher deductible. A higher deductible means that the policyholder will be responsible for a greater portion of any damages that occur, leading to lower rates. Many insurers offer discounts for policyholders who choose a higher deductible, so be sure to ask about this when shopping for homeowners insurance. For example, homeowners in Bangor, Maine, who choose deductibles of 500 and 1500 pay $672.83 and $572.99 in premiums, respectively. However, homeowners with deductibles of 2000 and 2500 pay $520.15 and $488.96, respectively. Therefore, the higher the deductible, the lower the home insurance rates in Bangor, ME.

2. By Installing Security Features

While the cost of homeowners insurance in Bangor, ME, can vary depending on the insurer, installing security features can help to reduce the overall cost. This is because homes with security features are less likely to be burglarized, so the insurer will deem them to be a lower risk. A variety of security features can be installed in a home, including alarm systems, security cameras, and deadbolt locks. Homeowners should consult with their insurance agents to see what security features will garner the most considerable discount on their insurance rates. For example, homes with deadbolts in Bangor, ME, pay $619.71 on home insurance.

3. By Maintaining a Zero Claims History

A zero claims history can help to save money on homeowners insurance rates in Bangor, ME. This is because insurance companies often offer discounts to customers who have not previously filed any claims with their company. Therefore, if you have a zero claims history, you may be able to get a lower rate on your homeowner's insurance policy. For example, in Bangor, Maine, homeowners with no prior claims must pay a premium of $599.28. However, the cost of homeowners insurance in Bangor, Maine, is $721.86 and $762.72 for those with one or two claims. If you have a zero claims history, ask your insurance agent about any possible discounts you may be eligible for. Taking advantage of these discounts could save significant money on your homeowner's insurance policy.

Latest Home Insurance Reviews

American Modern Insurance
Fear and uncertainty about if they will actually pay if something happens. if a tree falls through the roof, will they pay anything at all for my rare books, latvian pottery, or the oil paintings on the wall by janis ozolins? will they help me to pay for emergency housing? i doubt it.
American Modern Insurance
My premium is very reasonable, only about $50 a month, actually, and so far has not increased in price, unlike almost everything else nowadays, even though the tax value of my property has actually gone up about 5%.
State Farm
Even though some other insurance companies may have more reasonable rates, I feel more comfortable with State Farm. We have been with them for over 20 years and trust them.
I have only used nationwide for the home insurance. I can't rate another company for this. There is no way for me to answer this part as it is not applicable.
We have had Met Life for several years and have yet to have had to file a claim with them.We did select Met Life based on their rates and the overall helpfulness of the agent with whom we worked.
We always go with the highest deductible so that we have the lowest monthly payment. It is $1000 which is pretty steep if we need to use it.
I have only ever had to contact my insurance company for things related to premiums. Calls were always answered promptly, and they have always been very responsive and able to tell me exactly what I needed to do to address the issue.
I like the convenience of having access to them when i need them, whether it be a local agent or an all the time weekend service center to fix and help solve any issue.
Farmer's Insurance
I do not have a problem with any of their customer service because anytime we have had a claim, they are prompt and fair about compensation. We seem to not care for the actual agent over the actual customer service department.
Well. I feel like since I have yet to use this insurance to file a claim- it would be very impressive for them if they would lower my rates. This has yet to happen so that is about all I have right now in terms of complaints about this home insurer.
It was quick and as painless as I could imagine, especially considering they were required to pay for the damages. It was fast and no hassle.
Farmer's Insurance
Customer service response is very poor. Slow to answer any questions, and take my concerns lightly. however it's really just nitpicking, they are average for the price
State Farm
I would recommend State Farm to my friends. They have pretty good customer service. The premiums are fair and I think they do a good job.
