Farmers

$90.00 for 1 Month

With a home value of approximately $135,000, I decided to go with a basic package from Farmers, which covered mostly events out of my control such as fire, etc. The house is 2 bedrooms and one bath ... read moreand was built in 1982. Because it is a brick home, the foundation is basically solid, vs. if it was wood, etc. - and there was an extra fire hazard. The only thing that could have affected my home insurance is the fact that I live in an urban area. In the case of break-ins, burglary, Farmers covers the cost of lost items, yet I am not certain if extra coverage is required to fix specific items (broken window, etc). However, living in Virginia, the greater risk is hurricanes and while I know that wind damage is less of a concern, flooding in some areas is. I decided against flood insurance because my home was not in a prone area. Lastly, I looked into putting my auto and home insurance together, but found Progressive was doing such a great job previously, that it was better to keep them seperate. The deductible is average and my credit is in the high 600s. I have been with Farmers for over 7 years with home insurance and could not be more happy. Of course, its worth it to note, I have not had to use or make a claim with Farmers yet, either (knock on wood).
